Prior Education Credits:
- These consist of documented course work, seminar participation or other educational experiences.
- These could include classes taken in your church by qualified ministers, online programs, and the like.
- The more closely the prior education relates to Biblical Studies the greater its contribution to the total credit
- For example, if you took a two-day seminar on the Old Testament, depending on where it was taken, may count more towards your total credits than a month-long course in using the computer
If the prior education was graded, depending on where it was taken, the grade would also be taken into account.
In special situations you may petition the Faculty for a Biblical Foundations Assessment (BFA). Qualifying scores are then translated into a range of credits.
- Individuals who has less formal training can have the opportunity to exhibit what they have truly learned even if it is difficult to document
- This has become an especially useful tool for international students who sometimes have not had as easy access to formal educational settings
- Only students without formal training can petition to take the BFA.
Life Experience Credits:
- These consist of documented ministry experiences where a command of Biblical knowledge was evident
- For example, being a Sunday School teacher or conducting Bible Studies for your church might qualify for credit
- Only students without a high school diploma can petition to take the BFA
