1. Admissions Simmons Bible University has a rolling admissions process which allows you to begin your degree program any time. Admissions standards and requirements for Degree Programs are spelled out. Once you have completed the Application For Admissions, a decision will be made, generally within three weeks. 2. Registration Once accepted you will be notified of the number of courses required for your degree, including Prior Education Credits and Life Experience Credits (LIC). Typically all programs will require completion of the core courses and so you will have flexibility in the selection of the remaining non-core requirements. Tuition payments will be required at that time in order to begin your degree. Flexible payment terms are available, including grants and discounted fee structures. 3. Program Methods Our Distance Learning strategy will provide you with the maximum amount of flexibility in obtaining your degree. While we ultimately will offer a broader range of methods, your courses will be completed using the Syllabus Approach. For each course you will receive the list of readings and assignments. You will submit all assignments for the course and upon receiving a passing grade will move on to the next course. Students are given an initial 30 months to complete their program After that point, the time may be extended based on Faculty approval. 4. Petition For Oral Exam At SBU we recognize that the traditional education model does not work for everyone and lots of gifted people don’t get degrees because they are not great test takers or they have trouble writing long papers. In these cases, students may petition the Faculty for an oral exam. Special fees and conditions apply. 5. Tuition and Fees SBU has one of the most reasonable Tuition Programs of any institution providing a first-rate education. While some programs may vary slightly the cost per credit hour is $140, not including grants. Books and other materials are obtained by the student and most courses provide a wide range of options. This enables you to further reduce your degree cost. Your tuition also includes access to SBU’s Bible Research Center, making your research more economical. Additional Fees include the traditional processing expenses which we work to keep as minimal as possible. Other optional expenses are incurred at your discretion. 6. International Students While SBU is a global institution, English is currently the primary language Prospective students whose primary language is not English, and who have not earned a previous degree that was taught in English, must have received a score of at least 550 on the paper-based TOEFL or 213 on the computer-based TOEFL. There are exceptions. If a student can verify access to appropriate translation resources that enable them to do their own work in their native language and then have it translated into English, this may be acceptable. To be considered official, these resources must make formal contact with SBU Faculty and submit affidavits to this effect. |
